What is Loyalty?

What is loyalty? Why is loyalty so important?

When I first thought about loyalty I looked up the many different meanings and how different loyalty can be expressed.

Definitions :

  1. faithfulness to something by which one is bound by pledge or duty.
  2. Loyalty by allegiance: suggests an adherence , larger party involved such as a country or an organization.
  3. Devotion: stresses zeal and service amounting to (self) dedication
  4. Piety: fidelity to obligation regarded as natural and fundamental

It also expresses the sense of allegiance, commitment and dedication to someone or something.

Loyalty comes with responsibility. In some extent loyalty needs to be earned as well. .

Does loyalty work both ways?

Yes. Because loyalty is being pledged to someone or something that deserves our devotion because it will serve our purpose best.

I can truly say that Loyalty is one of the most important values that we live by. It is what we crave as human beings and what carries us through life.

Oddly enough this came to me in a later point in life, but it all makes sense.

Loyalty is what you find in a family, a family that supports all members and it means that no matter what you do in life, you have a group that will support you, love you and be there for you no matter what. It is where you come home and recharge, after battling with life and its challenges, and it is where you will hear that you have done your best and that you will do better tomorrow. It is having someone or better yet a group of people believing in you and supporting you in all you do in life.

It is why communes have been successful, it is the reason why people are misled in cults, it is why we want to find our tribe, social groups and even why virtual social networks are so succesfull.

Loyalty builds people up, and it is what can keep a person strong and steady in life.

Sadly enough, in this day and age, we have more broken families and less of that loyalty. People are stressed, turn to alcohol and drugs and turn away from family, love, God and more important loyalty. Children need loyalty, stability and love. People need loyalty, stability and love.

If we don’t have loyalty in our family, we tend to go out and look for that outside. This is what we call our tribe, friends, co workers or social groups.

We create our own circle that becomes our support in life, and helps us deal with our challenges and goals. It is a beautiful thing.

Betrayal does not fit in this beautiful picture. Betrayal is the anti-thesis of loyalty. It breaks down the foundation of what is important and it takes away the true foundation of what is good of love, loyalty and stability.

Who are you loyal to? Is this both ways? Is it worth it? Is it true?

Make it worth it and built a strong foundation of your life and what surrounds you..

We will always make mistakes, because that’s what humans do. And in our tribe, we can sympathize, have compassion, re-strengthen and forgive. And not make those mistakes anymore.

Morals and values are our guidelines in life to succeed and to be happy. If we break these rules, we will suffer the consequences. Some call it Karma.

There are the consequences we immediately have to deal with, and some that are on a deeper and more hidden level. But the beautiful law of the Universe, is that we will have to deal with it..
The law of Science: Action causes a reaction. Newton’s third law of motion: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. He was so brilliant, and he didn’t realize it is a universal law and it doesn’t just apply on motion.

The ultimate of example of loyalty to me is the loyalty to God and having faith. The penalty for breaking that loyalty would mean that we would create our own suffering. Hence that proves the power of God and why he deserves unconditional loyalty, because it’s for our own good. Then again, God loves us unconditionally and that gives us the comfort that our loyalty is placed well.
